Who Can Apply — Eligibility Criteria

One of the most searched questions is whether students from outside Uttarakhand can apply. The answer is yes — but only if you passed your qualifying exam (Class 12 or equivalent) from an institution located in Uttarakhand. Students who studied outside but hold a valid permanent Uttarakhand domicile certificate issued by a Tehsildar can also apply in some cases. There is no age limit for this entrance test — candidates of any age who meet the educational qualification are eligible. The minimum educational qualification for Group E Engineering courses is Class 12 pass with Physics and Chemistry or Science as subjects. For Group P Pharmacy, candidates need Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics. For Group A Lateral Entry to second year, either a 2-year ITI certificate or Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics is required. Every admitted student must also submit a health fitness certificate from a government hospital at the time of joining the institution.

Application Form — How to Fill

The JEEP 2026 application form is available online at ubterjeep.co.in and ubter.in from January 15, 2026. Students who prefer offline mode can collect the OMR paper form from any government or government-aided polytechnic institution affiliated with UBTER in Uttarakhand starting February 2, 2026. The application fee is ₹800 for General, OBC and EWS candidates and ₹500 for SC and ST candidates. This fee is all-inclusive — it covers the exam fee, counselling fee and GST together. No additional fee is charged at the time of counselling. One important thing most students miss — if you are eligible for more than one group such as Group E Engineering and Group P Pharmacy, you must submit separate applications with separate fees for each group. A single application only covers one group. Also note that once the form is submitted no corrections are allowed in any field.

Exam Pattern at a Glance

The exam has 100 questions, 3 hours, no negative marking. Understanding the complete jeep exam pattern before starting preparation helps you divide your study time between Mathematics and Science correctly.. For Group E Engineering and Group T Textile courses the paper is divided into two sections — Mathematics carrying 50 marks and Science (Physics and Chemistry) carrying 50 marks. For Group P Pharmacy the two sections are Physics and Chemistry (50 marks) and Biology or Mathematics (50 marks). The exam is held across 13 cities in Uttarakhand — you select your preferred city at the time of filling the ubter application form and this choice cannot be changed after submission. If fewer than 100 candidates select a particular city, you are automatically moved to the nearest available centre.

Syllabus — What to Study

The Uttarakhand JEEP Syllabus is based on the Class 10 and Class 12 curriculum of Uttarakhand Board. For engineering courses the three main subjects are Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. For pharmacy courses Physics, Chemistry and Biology are the key subjects. Students who have studied Science with Mathematics in Class 12 from any Uttarakhand board school are well positioned to start preparation directly from their Class 12 textbooks. No separate expensive coaching is required — NCERT and UK Board Class 11 and 12 textbooks are sufficient as primary preparation material.

Admit Card — How to Download

The JEEP Admit Card 2026 will be released on ubterjeep.co.in approximately 15 days before the exam date. No admit card is sent by post to any candidate. You must download and print it yourself using your registration number and date of birth. The admit card carries your name, roll number, photograph, exam centre address, exam date and reporting time. On exam day carry the printed admit card along with a valid government photo ID — Aadhar card is the most convenient option. Entry to the exam hall is not allowed without both documents.

Result and Merit List

The UBTER JEEP Result 2026 will be declared on ubter.in and ubterjeep.co.in after the exam — tentatively in June 2026. The result is published as a rank card showing your score and merit rank. In case two candidates score exactly the same marks, the tie is broken first by date of birth (older candidate gets higher rank), then by marks in Mathematics, and finally by marks in Science or Chemistry. This merit rank directly determines your seat in the computerised online counselling.

Counselling Process — Seat Allotment

Uttarakhand Polytechnic exam counselling is done online through a computerised system. No separate call letter is sent to candidates — dates and schedule are announced on ubter.in and in newspapers. The process includes registration, choice filling of preferred institution and course, seat allotment based on merit and category, and finally reporting to the allotted institution with original documents. Seats are allotted strictly based on your rank, category and the choices you fill. You cannot change your institution after allotment is accepted — so fill your choices carefully. A student cannot simultaneously hold seats in more than one institution. All original documents including domicile certificate, category certificate and Class 12 marksheet must be presented at the time of reporting.

Cut Off — Expected Marks

JEEP 2026 Cut Off marks vary every year based on total candidates, paper difficulty and seats available per institution and course. Government polytechnic colleges in Uttarakhand consistently have higher cut offs than private institutions because of significantly lower fees — government tuition fee is only ₹8,000 per year compared to ₹35,000 per year at private engineering colleges. District-wise and category-wise cut offs also differ — colleges in Haridwar, Dehradun and Roorkee tend to have higher cut offs due to better placement records.

Participating Colleges and Fee Structure

A total of 157 polytechnic institutions across Uttarakhand participate in UBTER JEEP 2026 counselling. These include government colleges, government-aided colleges, rural polytechnics, women-only polytechnics and private institutions. Together they offer 44 different diploma level courses across engineering, pharmacy, textile design, garment technology, fashion design, hotel management, modern office management and computer application streams. The fee structure is regulated by the government. For government and government-aided institutions the annual tuition fee is ₹8,000 and student fund is ₹5,000 giving a total of ₹13,000 per year for major fees. Hostel fee is ₹4,000 per year for those who need accommodation. For private engineering institutions the annual fee is approximately ₹35,000 and for private pharmacy institutions it is ₹45,000 per year. Hotel Management private institutions charge approximately ₹43,000 per year.

Reservation — Category Wise Seats

The Uttarakhand government has defined a clear reservation structure for JEEP 2026 seats. SC candidates get 19% reservation, ST candidates get 4%, OBC candidates get 14% and EWS candidates get 10%. Women of all categories get 30% horizontal reservation across all institutions. Disabled candidates get 4% horizontal reservation. NCC certificate holders get bonus marks added to their entrance exam score — 1% for A certificate, 2% for B certificate and 3% for C certificate. Ex-servicemen dependents get 5% institutional reservation and Freedom Fighter dependents get 2%. Uttarakhand domicile is compulsory to claim any reservation benefit. If you apply under a reserved category but cannot present the competent authority certificate at counselling, your selection is cancelled and you are not transferred to any other category. Fill your category and sub-category correctly in the application form because corrections are not allowed after submission.

Exam Centre Cities

The JEEP 2026 exam is held in 13 cities across Uttarakhand covering both Garhwal and Kumaon divisions. The cities are Haridwar, Dehradun, New Tehri, Uttarkashi, Srinagar (Pauri Garhwal), Gauchar (Chamoli), Rudraprayag, Kashipur, Haldwani, Almora, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Lohaghat (Champawat). Students from remote hill districts should note that exam centre allocation depends on registration numbers — if fewer than 100 students choose a city, you are moved to the nearest centre. Choose the city you can travel to most easily and book travel arrangements early.
