Special Recruitment (Backlog) — 5 posts
This isn’t a flat 5-way category split. It breaks down as:
- 1 post reserved for SC category (general backlog vacancy)
- 4 posts separately identified for Divyang (PwD) candidates — 2 under LV/PB (low vision/blindness) and 2 under HH/PD (hearing handicap/physical disability)
Per the notification, if suitable LV/PB or HH/PD candidates aren’t available, these posts may be filled by OA, OL, DW, or AAV/AV category PwD candidates on an interchange basis, and thereafter by merit list if still unfilled.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc & A.H.) from a university established by law and recognized by the Veterinary Council of India, or an equivalent qualification under Section 2(c)/2(f) of the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984. The following are accepted as equivalent degrees:

- Graduate in Veterinary Science (G.V.Sc.)

- Graduate of Bihar Veterinary College (G.B.V.S.)
- Graduate of Bombay Veterinary College (G.M.V.Sc.)
- Graduate of Madras Veterinary College (G.M.V.Sc.)
- Madras Pashu Chikitsa Mahavidyalaya Snatak (G.M.V.G.)
- Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (M.R.C.V.S.)
- Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (B.V. Med.)

Note: Items 5 and 6 (Bengal and Bihar Veterinary College) carry the identical abbreviation “G.B.V.S.” in the official notification — this is not a typo on our part, both colleges’ names transliterate to the same short form. Refer to the full college name, not the abbreviation, to tell them apart.
Candidates must also be duly registered with the Uttarakhand Veterinary Council.
Preferential qualification: candidates with a postgraduate degree/diploma in Veterinary Science, or minimum 2 years’ service in the Territorial Army, or an NCC ‘B’ or ‘C’ certificate, will be given preference over equally-placed candidates. Recognized postgraduate degrees include M.V.Sc in Surgery, Gynaecology, Breeding, Medicine, Radiology, Microbiology, Pathology, Animal Nutrition, Public Health, Biochemistry, and Poultry.
Age Limit
Minimum 21 years, maximum 42 years, as on 1 July 2026 (born after 1 July 2005 and not before 2 July 1984).

Nationality
Must be an Indian citizen, or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 with intent to settle permanently, or a person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, or the former United Republic of Tanzania with intent to settle permanently in India (subject to eligibility certificate requirements).

- Click Apply Now, complete registration with your details, and set a login password.
- Log in and fill in educational details (High School, Intermediate, Graduate, and other qualifications).
- Upload photo and signature as per specifications, then confirm the declaration.
- Review all entered details carefully on the confirmation screen — corrections after final submission are extremely limited.
- Pay the applicable fee via Net Banking/Debit/Credit Card/UPI.
- Print the final application form for your records.
Note: registered mobile number cannot be edited after registration. Errors can only be corrected before final submission (via Back & Edit) or during the official correction window (22 September – 1 October 2026), and even then, only specific fields — not name, DOB, category, or gender beyond the permitted scope.
Selection Process
Selection is based entirely on a single objective-type written examination — there is no interview. Candidates must score at least the minimum qualifying marks fixed for their category to be considered for the merit list:

Candidates applying under Uttarakhand Women, orphan/affected children, or state-movement-affected categories are evaluated against their original category’s minimum qualifying marks, not a flat 45%, for merit list purposes.
The final merit/proficiency list is prepared from written exam scores of candidates who clear their category’s minimum, followed by document verification of qualified candidates.
Salary Structure
Pay Level-10 (₹56,100 – ₹1,77,500), Group ‘B’ Gazetted, permanent/pensionable post.
