Photographer Syllabus and Pattern 2025-26

TV formats — short films, documentaries, serials, news bulletins, advertisement production. Video production stages — pre-production, production, and post-production.

Unit 3 – Camera Parts, Accessories and Video Techniques: Camera body (image sensor, ISO, shutter speed), aperture (F-stop, T-stop, depth of field), shooting modes and composition, lens types (normal, wide-angle, telephoto, macro, fisheye), angle of view, focal length. Equipment — tripods, monopods, dolly, stabilisers, gimbals. Video techniques — aspect ratio, common formats, frame rates.

Unit 4 – Lighting: Primary and secondary colours (RGB, CMYK). Lighting styles — broad, short, narrow, butterfly, natural and artificial light, hard and soft light, directional light. Three-point lighting techniques, use of filters and flash, white balance, colour temperature, and colour correction.

Unit 5 – Composition and Camera Movements: Headroom and looking room. Shot types — long shot, wide shot, mid shot, close-up. Camera angles — high angle, eye level, low angle. Camera movements — zoom in/out (digital and optical), track in/out, tilting, panning, steadicam.

Unit 6 – Digital Photography and Editing: Basics of digital photography, terminology (image format, storage devices, pixels, CCD, CMOS, image sensors, brightness, contrast, histogram, HDR, mid tones, colour tones, highlights, noise filtering). Photo editing software basics — Adobe Photoshop, CorelDRAW Graphics, Canva. Video editing software basics — Adobe Premiere Pro, Apple iMovie.
