UKSSSC Inter Level Exam Pattern

The selection has two parts, and only the written exam decides your merit.

  1. Written exam (objective type): One paper covering General Hindi, General Knowledge and General Studies. 100 questions, 100 marks, 2 hours.
  2. Typing test (qualifying): You only need to qualify. It is not a scoring round.

What this means for you: Uttarakhand GK alone is worth as much as the entire General Studies block, and together with General Hindi, these two Uttarakhand-and-language sections carry 60 marks. Do not treat them as an afterthought.

UKSSSC Inter Level Syllabus 2026: Subject-Wise Topics

1. General Hindi (20 Marks)

  • Language and Hindi language (भाषा एवं हिंदी भाषा): Language and its types, development of Hindi, different forms of Hindi, official (कार्यालयी) Hindi, major dialects of Uttarakhand (Kumaoni, Garhwali)
  • Script and alphabet (लिपि एवं वर्णमाला): Development of Devanagari script, merits and demerits of Devanagari, Indian languages written in Devanagari, vowels and consonants (स्वर एवं व्यंजन)
  • Hindi spelling (हिंदी वर्तनी): Spelling analysis, correct and incorrect words, punctuation marks, Hindi numerals
  • Word structure (शब्द संरचना): Varn, akshar, prefix and suffix (उपसर्ग, प्रत्यय), noun, pronoun, verb, voice (वाच्य), pad, gender, number, person, adjective, adverb, karak, avyay
  • Vocabulary (शब्द भंडार): Tatsam, tadbhav, deshaj, agat (loan words from Indian and foreign languages), one-word and multi-meaning words, antonyms, synonyms, shabd-yugm, paronyms (श्रुतिसमभिन्नार्थक शब्द)
  • Sandhi (संधि): Sandhi vichchhed and its types
  • Sentence introduction (वाक्य परिचय): Meaning and definition of a sentence, types of sentences by structure, sentence correction (वाक्य-शुद्धि)
  • Idioms and proverbs (मुहावरे और लोकोक्तियां): Definition, meaning and usage
  • Letter writing (पत्र लेखन): Noting (टिप्पण), drafting (प्रारूपण), notice (विज्ञप्ति), government and semi-government letters

This block covers seven subjects. The commission has not published separate marks for each, so prepare all of them.

  • Operating systems: Functions and types, processes, GUI-based operating systems
  • Database management systems: Database concepts, need for databases, types of keys
  • Office automation: Word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software
  • Networking and internet: Computer networks, internet basics, ISP, web browsers, World Wide Web, URL, domain names, search engines, email, net etiquette, social impact of ICT, websites, web pages, HTML basics and common HTML tags

Ans. The written exam is a single objective-type paper of 100 questions and 100 marks, to be completed in 2 hours. It covers General Hindi, General Knowledge and General Studies. A qualifying typing test follows.

Q2. How many marks are there for each section?

Ans. General Hindi carries 20 marks, General Knowledge and General Studies carry 40 marks, and General Knowledge of Uttarakhand carries 40 marks, making 100 in total.

Q3. Is there a separate syllabus for Kanishtha Sahayak and the other posts?

Ans. No. The commission has issued one common syllabus for the Junior Assistant and other intermediate-level posts in this advertisement, so the same preparation works for all of them.

Q4. Is computer knowledge part of the syllabus?

Ans. Yes. Fundamentals of Computers is a full subject inside the General Knowledge and General Studies section. It covers hardware, software, operating systems, databases, office tools, internet basics, cyber security, and introductory AI, Machine Learning, IoT and Cloud Computing.

Q5. Is the typing test counted in the final merit?

Ans. The typing test is qualifying in nature. You must pass it, but it is not a marks-based round, so your merit is built on the written exam.

Q6. Which topics should I focus on first?

Ans. Start with Uttarakhand GK and General Hindi, since together they carry 60 of the 100 marks and their syllabus is the most specific. Then move to Reasoning, History, Polity, Geography, Economics, Computers and Current Affairs.
