UKSSSC PA & Stenographer Syllabus 2026: Exam Pattern and Subject-Wise Syllabus (Intermediate & Graduate Level)

UKSSSC has approved the exam scheme and syllabus for Advertisement No. 81/2026 through two separate government orders — both dated 25 August 2026, issued by the Personnel & Vigilance Department, and published on the Commission’s website on 31 August 2026. Because this recruitment covers both Intermediate-qualified and Graduate-qualified posts, two distinct syllabi apply, not one. This page breaks down both.

Exam Pattern

The selection process has two stages, identical in structure across every post in this notification:

  • Negative marking: ¼ mark deducted for each incorrect answer.

  • The final merit list is prepared primarily on Stage 1 marks — Stage 2 is qualifying, not merit-counted.
  • Minimum qualifying marks in the written exam: 45% for General/OBC/EWS, 35% for SC/ST.

Detailed Syllabus — Intermediate Level

General Hindi: Devanagari script and its development, Hindi spelling analysis, varna vichar (vowels/consonants), shabd vichar (word types — tatsam, tadbhav, deshaj, videshi, synonyms, antonyms), sandhi, vakya parichay (sentence structure), muhavare evam lokoktiyan (idioms/proverbs), patra lekhan (letter writing — official and semi-official), mass communication media, Hindi computer usage.

General Intelligence & Reasoning

  • Verbal: alphabetical test, coding-decoding, analogy, order arrangement, blood relations, classification, word formation, direction & distance, Venn diagrams, calendar, problem solving, logical reasoning, data sufficiency, mathematical operations
  • Non-verbal: classification, figure counting, figure completion, grouping of identical figures, mirror & water image, paper folding & cutting, cube & dice, figure analogy, analytical figure reasoning

History: Ancient India (Harappan civilization to 1206 AD) — political, social, economic, cultural history, administrative systems; Medieval India — political, social, economic, cultural history, administrative systems; Modern India — arrival of European companies, expansion of empire, economic/administrative policies, major rebellions and acts, social/religious reform movements, India’s independence struggle, partition, key post-independence events; World history — Renaissance in Europe, American War of Independence, French Revolution, Russian Revolution, World Wars I & II.

Geography: India — geographical introduction, climate, drainage system, natural resources (soil, water, minerals, energy), multipurpose river valley projects, crops, population, tribes, environmental issues (air/water/soil pollution); World — origin of solar system, latitude-longitude, rocks, ocean currents, tides, climate, major atmospheric phenomena, crops, industries, population, tribes.

Political Science: National awakening and socio-religious renaissance, Gandhism, salient features of the Indian Constitution, fundamental rights and duties, Directive Principles, SC/ST/OBC provisions, Parliament of India, Supreme Court, political parties and electoral process, Right to Information, Panchayati Raj (with Uttarakhand-specific provisions), United Nations, globalization, human rights.

Economics: Features of Indian economy, population, agriculture and its problems, food security, industrial development, money and banking, New Economic Policy, NITI Aayog, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), poverty, employment programmes, Indian tax system, foreign trade, balance of payment, globalisation.

Current Affairs: National — state-related information, national symbols, geography, important places, language & literature, sports, awards, science & technology developments, public policy initiatives; International — important discoveries/inventions, organizations, current events.

Computer Fundamentals: Computer basics, software, algorithms, operating systems (open-source and proprietary), office automation tools, computer networks and topologies, internet & web programming (IP address, URL, domain, browsers, HTML basics), cyber security & emerging technologies (firewalls, cookies, AI, data science, machine learning, IoT, blockchain, cloud computing, generative AI).

General Knowledge of Uttarakhand: Geographical introduction (location, mountain peaks, glaciers, rivers, lakes), forest and national park resources, history (Katyuri, Chand, Panwar, Gorkha dynasties; British rule; freedom struggle; statehood movement), economy (agriculture, industries, tourism, employment, major projects), cultural aspects and traditions, biodiversity and disaster management, general administration and local self-government, education, current affairs related to Uttarakhand.

Detailed Syllabus — Graduate Level (Additional/Different Topics Only)

The Graduate-level syllabus (applicable to Ashulipik Grade-3, PTCUL) shares the same General Hindi, Computer Fundamentals, and Uttarakhand GK sections as above — word for word identical. It differs only in these three areas:

  • Reasoning: adds Puzzles and Seating Arrangement to the topic list above.
  • History: adds Buddhism and Jainism (Ancient India), Bhakti and Sufi movements (Medieval India), and the Industrial Revolution (World History).
  • Economics: significantly broader — adds Small Scale Industry, Micro-Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) development and problems, Social Security, Human Development, and World Trade Organisation, alongside the topics already listed for the Intermediate level.
